Sewing in Monterrey
Project Launch: 10-12-18
A women's group of 14 members is seeking to continue growing the sewing business they started over 4 years ago. As of January 2018, the construction of their association's building was completed in their rural community of Monterrey. The group is in need of sewing materials, equipment, and a special embroidery program. In order to help expand the business, the women acquired a special embroidery logo machine that will help them create and sell shirts, hats, and bags among many other products to local tourist and shops. The women need special software for the embroidery machine in order to create logos for local school and restaurant uniforms. Given that Monterrey is located only 30 minutes from a major tourist destination, the cooperative hopes to create profitable tourist merchandise to sell them to local businesses.
