About this Project

Muyang’anira Village Development Committee is requesting financial support from World Connect to complete the construction of a Maternity Wing at Nkhande Health Post  which started in 2019. While a major part of the project is completed, plastering, flooring, plumbing, electrification and fixing fittings such as doors still remain to make it operational. This project is expected to improve access to maternal health care services for over 2000 expectant women per year and  improve health for infants and under-five children in Muyang’anira and surrounding areas as no child will remain unvaccinated against any disease outbreaks.  

The Nkhande Maternity Wing at Group Village Headman Muyang’anira in Nsanje District is already providing prenatal and postnatal care to about 30 expectant women and 40 children under five each month. The facility’s full functionality awaits ceiling installation, interior painting, and plumbing. Once fully operational, it is expected to serve approximately 2,381 women from Muyang’anira VDC and surrounding communities, greatly improving access to comprehensive maternity care.
