Self Sustaining School Technical Library and Computing Center
Project Launch: 12-23-16
There are very limited educational resources for students and teachers in Panlayaan. Existing learning modules rely heavily on the availability of the internet which is often unavailable. This project proposes the creation of a solar-powered computing and library facility in order to address these educational challenges. The three main objectives for this facility are the following: to provide access to computing facilities so that the students can gain the skills needed to be globally competitive in today’s job market, to improve access to books, eBooks, and technical guides, and to provide a media ready learning facility that engages the student in the learning process.
Project Update: 5-15-17
A soft opening for the solar-powered e-library and computing center was held on April 6 at a community/barangay preview event that allowed the community take a first look at this project. The effort has been able to mobilize the community to complete much of the work to create this new facility. Staff and students will be trained in computer repair and maintenance and the Project Leader will hold teaching demonstrations to show how to use technology in the classroom.
