Project Ironman/Ironwoman
Year: 2011
Country: Peru
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
Corral de Arena or "Corral of Sand” is a town in Peru that is essentially a big, hot sandbox. The majority of the population is subsistence farmers and the average education level of the adults is below completion of elementary school. Students, when asked their dreams for the future, are often puzzled by the question and haven’t though about the options they have outside of farming. Survival is everyone’s goal. The goal of this $500 grant from World Connect’s Kids to Kids Program was to offer students between the ages of 12 to 18 a perspective on other opportunities. Students participated in classes on goal setting, the possibility of higher education, and emotional and physical health, with an emphasis on preventing sexually transmitted diseases and unwanted pregnancies.Explore other Projects
