Nursery School in Ngolanga Village
Project Launch: 2-28-19
86 children from three villages currently attend a makeshift nursery school in Ngolanga. In the absence of a nursery school building, many of these children learn outside under mango trees.
This project will construct a small nursery school that will serve as a daycare and pre-school education facility. The school will provide a safe and educational environment for kids. After building the nursery school and stocking it with materials like a blackboard, chalk, and books, community members will hire a teacher and pay that teacher with contributions provided by parents of children in attendance.
Final Report: 3-31-20
In the history of Ngolanga community, construction of the nursery school has been one of the greatest community achievements. The $2,346 has enabled the community to complete construction of the school which is now a learning center for 128 children from surrounding villages. The coming of this project has motivated community members to construct pit latrines and a kitchen at the nursery school using locally sourced materials. Prior to the construction of the nursery school block, the children were learning under a tree which was very inconvenient especially during the rainy season and cold months which made most parents not willing to send their young children for classes. The coming of this block has thus stimulated parents to send their kids to school knowing they are well taken care of and safe.
