Stem lab, language and arts center
Project Launch: 12-21-21
Led by Francis Baidoo, a Lead for Ghana fellow, the Afatsagbleve community in southeast Ghana will construct a STEM lab and Language center that will enable learners in the community to contextualise abstract scientific theories and improve their vocabulary by acquiring communication skills. The project will reduce the distance travelled by students to partake in STEM related activities at the district’s capital which is 4km away. In addition, the parents and guardians of the learners will stop paying for their ward’s fees as they access STEM facilities in the nearby areas and instead use the funds intended for this purpose in other household initiatives. With this project, the community is hopeful that their children will develop a passion for science and technology related subjects and will acquire the necessary skills to comprehend various languages, particularly English, subsequently improving their literacy skills and overall school performance.
