GREEN NASCA INITIATIVE
Project Launch:
The Green Nasca Initiative will impact 10 participating schools with a student population greater than 2,500. Teachers from each school will be trained to create ecologically responsible schools by the local branch of the Peruvian Red Cross. An ecologically responsible school hosts recycling competitions, encourages students to create recycled art and teaches students regularly about recycling, environmental responsibility and the importance of protecting the environment for community and individual health. Schools will compete against one another for the best artwork and the most recycling collected, with the winning schools being given micro grants to implement their very own green service project such as installing a garden, creating a compost pile or building a potable water system.
