Expansion of the Esther Women Tailoring Workshop Space
Project Launch: 1-24-24
Rwanda Esther's Initiative will use a grant from World Connect Rwanda to expand their current tailoring workshop space space to accommodate more women and girls involved in tailoring activities who have been trained by the organisation.
Through trainings delivered by REI in Ngeruka sector of Bugesera District, 30 women from vulnerable and low socio-economic households have gained tailoring and fashion design skills. To keep them engaged and sharpen their tailoring skills but also gain more experience in the tailoring/sewing field, a need arose to extend the current workshop space into a fully functional tailoring workshop. The extended space will increase the number of young women in the community to connect further, exchange, and engage on issues pertinent to them (safe space). It will also help deliver on the following vital aspects: serve as a space to learn how to produce re-usable Sanitary towels, a need for so many in-school and out-of-school girls, including women; Initiate business training opportunities for women who have gained tailoring skills and Providing sewing demanded services in the community; Serve as a space for entrepreneurship incubation and innovation of women’s economic empowerment ideas. Improve the livelihoods of low-income families in the community,
