Equipping and Empowering Deaf Women for Self Resilience
Project Launch: 7-16-20
Women with disabilities have limited employment opportunities in Jalingo, Nigeria. TheseAbilities Youth Empowerment Initiative will train deaf women in Taraba State in restaurant management and catering skills. Twenty women from two communities will be equipped with the skills to open and run a restaurant after the training is complete. This will in turn improve the womens' financial independence and economic power. With increased confidence and business leadership, the women hope to change society's perception about the capabilities of deaf women and reduce the rate of abuse and violence against deaf women in the region.
