COVID-19: PPE & Prevention Education

With this World Connect grant, Action for Sustainable Development (ASUD) will conduct massive civic education on COVID-19 prevention in the Nkhorongo Health Centre catchment area, Choma Health Centre catchment area, and part of the Ekwendeni community. Using qualified health personnel, they will disseminate messages on a Public Address system in a moving vehicle to make sure the messages reach out to as many people as possible. The organization will also support the health center with Personal Prevention Equipment and materials such as gloves, tap buckets, sanitizers, face masks, tablet soap, and plastic basins for individuals and health personnel at the health centre and during outreach clinics. The efforts are set to reach out to approximately 30,000 people in these areas.
Project Update:
Action for Sustainable Development Community Organization joined the rest of the world in combating the Coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic by procuring personal protective equipment (PPE) and disseminating the virus’ prevention information to communities. The project has procured and distributed to Nkhorongo and Choma Health Centers PPE such as 100 bottles of Hand Sanitizers (110 ml), 300 boxes of N95 face masks, 364 pairs of latex gloves, 100 bottles of sanitary soap, and 15 hand washing stations comprising of buckets, plastic basins and steel bucket stands. Using a public address system, the project has reached out to over 30,000 people from Nkhorongo, Choma and Ekwendeni communities with accurate information on prevention of COVID-19. The project has impacted many people who have now developed a habit of social distancing when meeting, wearing masks in public, avoiding handshakes as a form of greetings and washing hands regularly to prevent the spread of the virus.
