Construction of Spot fry and Instant Cook Units in Manchok Kaduna South
Project Launch: 12-1-20
Farming is the major source of income in Manchok Community, with potatoes being a significant crop to harvest. However, with insufficient storage and processing facilities, as well as extortion from middlemen, farmers lose 15%-25% of potatoes to rots and waste. This project will fund the construction of five locally engineered mobile portable instant spot fry units outfitted with semi-automatic potato processing equipment including potato peelers and chippers. The units will reduce potato rot and waste in Manchok community while providing a healthier alternative of potato consumption by using low cholesterol vegetable oil and ginger spices rather than the typical high cholesterol oil.The units will be distributed to five women farmer cooperative societies, giving female farmers ready markets while reducing the participation of middlemen in the value chain.
