Chilembwe Village Development Committee in collaboration with Chifundo Chisale, a CorpsAfrica Volunteer, will use a World Connect grant to construct a multifunctional building comprising three compartments: an office space, under-five clinic, and a nursery school. All of these activities are currently taking place in a dilapidated structure that the community members built. The new structure will help in providing a conducive environment for the kids, mothers and children accessing the under-five clinic and as well as a suitable location for community gatherings.
The Chilembwe Village Development Committee in Machinga District effectively utilized $7,990.20 from Mudzi Connect to build a multifunctional Community-Based Organisation (CBO) block. The facility, which includes two rooms and an office space, now serves as a nursery school for 65 children, providing a supportive environment for early childhood education, and functions as a centre for under-five growth monitoring, offering monthly health services such as vaccinations to at least 60 children in the community. In addition, the fully furnished structure is used for various community activities and meetings, fostering local engagement, which has led to improvements in service delivery and the overall development of the community.
