St. Bernard Academy
This is the third year that St. Bernard Academy (SBA), a small Catholic school in Nashville, is participating in Kids Connect. An 8th grade classroom has chosen to support Drip Chlorination, a project that will provide five low-income communities in Peru with drip chlorination systems to purify their communal water sources as well as educational workshops focused on sanitation, hygiene, and water storage practices. For their first fundraiser, SBA held an out of uniform day and raised $324.30! The students were able to Skype with the community leaders to discuss Peru, specific water issues facing the communities, and goals for the project. Through this connection, students engaged with the project in a new dimension and were able to ask specific questions and see the direct impact they are making through the Kids Connect program.
