About this Project

In Machinga District, local beekeepers belonging to the Shire River Honey Producers & Marketing Cooperative face low yields and sub-optimal honey quality due to traditional harvesting methods. Supported by $6,065.68 from Mudzi Connect, the cooperative will upgrade its operations by purchasing 50 modern beehives alongside essential equipment, including 9 protective suits and 6 smokers. To guarantee sustainable impact, members and cooperative leadership will undergo training focused on modern apiary management, equipment maintenance and value-addition techniques. This initiative aims to expand production capacity, elevate product quality, enhance household earnings among the 120 beekeepers and promote local forest conservation.
