Through the project, Sendwe Cooperative will purchase and install modern beehives, be trained in beekeeping, business management and cooperative management, purchase bee suits, packaging bottles, processing machinery and construct a processing house. The success of this project will improve the economic status of the 66 members of the cooperative, their households and community members who will use honey products from the group.
Sendwe Cooperative effectively used $9,676.42 to enhance its beekeeping business through constructing a honey processing house, purchasing processing equipment, and acquiring beehives. All 63 members received training in honey processing and business skills. As a result, members’ honey sale income increased by over 150%, from at least K100,000 to K225,000 per sale. This growth improved household financial stability, enabling members to pay school fees and buy livestock. Foster Maliseni, a beneficiary, shared that earnings from building the processing house allowed him to buy and rear goats, purchase household items, and improve his living conditions.
