School Block Construction at Mamine Primary School in Majete 1.
Project Launch: 9-5-22
Majete Community Development Organisation will use $7,981.57 to construct a two-roomed classroom block at Mamine Primary School in Chikwawa District in the southern region of Malawi. The addition of two classes will ensure that all students at the school learn in a conducive environment in contrast to the status quo where 160 Standard 1 and 2 learners either learn outside under a tree or on rainy days they use a kitchen as a learning shelter.
Project Update: 12-12-22
Majete Development Community Organization (MACODO) in partnership with the community have completed 65% of the construction of Mamine Primary School in Majete 1, in Chikwawa. The two roomed classroom block has been roofed and plastering has already started. To fully complete it, flooring, plastering, painting, pointing and construction of drainage system remains and are expected to be completed by Dec 31, 2022. Interestingly the project leveraged 48 iron sheets from African Parks through Majete allowing the budgeted amount to be used for purchasing desks. 170 learners who are currently using a tree or a school kitchen as a learning shelter will benefit in using this block once completed.
