Scaling-up Muelalumbo’s honey production.

About this Project

In Elamuleni Community, under Emsizini EPA in Mzimba District, Muelalumbo Farmers and Marketing Cooperative Society Limited will scale up its established beekeeping enterprise to increase honey production, improve processing efficiency, and strengthen household incomes. With a $6,838.38  co investment with Mudzi Connect, the cooperative will purchase additional beehives, a solar-powered honey processing machine, bee suits, smokers, buckets, and other production and processing supplies, while improving hygiene infrastructure at its processing unit through the construction of toilets. Building on the cooperative’s existing experience, established markets, and strong participation of women and youth, the project will enable members to produce and process larger quantities of honey more efficiently, safely, and hygienically. The investment will reduce the time and labour required for honey processing, improve harvesting safety, increase the quantity and quality of honey available for sale, and strengthen the cooperative’s ability to access larger markets and negotiate better prices. The project contributes to improved household incomes, environmental conservation, and local economic development.
