About this Project
The ATLAS program will support 30 indigenous girls from rural communities in Sololá over a 10-month period during the 2026 school year. The project provides targeted academic reinforcement in Mathematics and Communication & Language through individualized and group tutoring to improve understanding, strengthen core skills, and raise academic performance. It will also provide a leadership and personal development component that builds self-confidence, decision-making ability, and empowerment—helping girls overcome cultural barriers that often limit their voice and aspirations. Participants are carefully selected with schools and families, prioritizing motivated girls facing significant educational challenges. The objective is to keep these girls in school, improve their academic results, strengthen their sense of agency, and connect them to better educational opportunities (including potential scholarships). By doing so, the program helps them become agents of change in their families and communities and opens pathways to a more equitable and hopeful future.
