Peanut and Touba Coffee Processing Unit of Ndem
Project Launch: 7-27-18
This project aims to create local revenue and empower the women of Ndem Meissa Thioro by strengthening their savings and loan system with an added diversification of financial resources and facilitating the satisfaction of demand of coffee and peanuts by developing products for local sale. Touba Coffee, used every day for any occasion in the village due to the Mouride culture, is a local delicacy. Peanuts are used for human consumption and the shells are used for feeding livestock.
These processed products are frequently used in the village and surrounding villages but are not currently produced locally. This project will see to that. Women of Ndem will have sources of sustainable, long-term revenue and it will allow all people of the area to reduce their dependence on external goods from the city of Bambey which is far from the area along an often impassable road.
