About this Project

Project Launch: 8-13-25

The Chikudzo Development Committee, located in the area of Group Village Headman Mwesakumva under Traditional Authority Msakambewa in Dowa, is finalizing the construction of a two-room classroom block with an office space at Nankhanga Primary School. This project will upgrade the school to a full primary school, eliminating the need for senior students to walk 8 kms to access education at nearby schools. The initiative is expected to significantly reduce school dropout rates and enable standard 8 learners to sit for their Malawi National Examination Board (MANEB) exams at the school. The new block will also serve as a venue for community meetings, while the dedicated office space will provide teachers with secure storage for teaching and learning materials

Project Update: 12-19-25

The Nankhanga School Block Completion project, implemented by Chikudzo Village Development Committee with support from Mudzi Connect, is providing a safe and functional learning environment for senior primary students. The two-room classroom block, including an office space for teachers, has already enabled Standards 5 and 6 students to study in improved conditions, reducing the need to travel 5km to nearby schools. Major construction tasks such as flooring, plastering, and lime application have been completed, and desks for teachers and students are in use. Remaining works, including painting, window installation, and water drainage construction, are underway, ensuring the block will be fully operational and continue to enhance learning outcomes in the community.

Final Report: 2-4-26

Mudzi Connect invested $6,822.10 in a project at Nankhanga Primary School, Dowa District, which was completed by the Chikudzo Village Development Committee, school management, and community. It now serves 132 students with 50 desks, reducing congestion. The office improves teaching efficiency. Learner attendance increased, dropout cases decreased by 89%, and 136 dropout returnees re-enrolled.
