About this Project

With $7,066.25 co-investment from Mudzi Connect, Mntchenda Beekeepers' Cooperative seeks to construct a honey processing facility in TA Chulu, Kasungu District. The facility will provide dedicated spaces for honey processing enabling the cooperative to improve the  quality of honey produced and pursue Malawi Bureau of Standards (MBS) certification. The project will benefit 57 cooperative members and the wider community of over 500 households by creating a stronger market for locally produced honey, increasing household incomes and creating employment opportunities. By adding value to honey and strengthening sustainable beekeeping, the initiative will also encourage forest conservation and reduce reliance on environmentally harmful activities such as charcoal production.
