Maisha Elfu
Project Launch:
In Kalawa, Kenya, an absence of libraries is notable. This project will be implemented in partnership with Books for Africa to deliver 22,000 books to 50+ schools in the region currently without school libraries. Funds will be utilized not only for the purchase and transfer of books, but also for the development of library management systems and training for librarians at each school. Schools will be responsible for meeting defined criteria in their available library space before being considered as beneficiaries of the project.
Project Update
Books have been delivered to 27 primary schools, 10 secondary schools, and 1 community education center. The books cover topics such as leisure, English, health, math, science and social studies for the primary students, and leisure, English literature, health, math, science, social studies and vocational information for the secondary students. Additionally, each school received two dictionaries.
