Invest for Change (I4C) Project
Project Launch: 4-22-20
This community organization has designed a project to support members of the community with an additional income-generating activity: quail farming. This project will provide 90 community members from HIV support groups and youth clubs with quails and the necessary equipment to raise them including coops, feeding trays, food, solar panels, and batteries. Participants will generate income and build financial stability by breeding quails and selling eggs.
Final Report: 7-20-20
Using $748 in World Connect grant funds, Community Forum Organization procured a 150W solar panel, battery, feed, and other commodities to build a caged space for keeping quail. Within the three months of implementation, the project has produced and supplied eggs to various markets and restaurants and generated a substantial amount of money which has been reinvested in starting an agribusiness for the group. The group has used the funds to procure farm inputs which have been given to two HIV/AIDS support groups with 74 people living with HIV/AIDS now engaged in irrigation farming, which is expected to boost their income. The project has brought hope and joy to the members of the support groups as now they can afford most of the food to sustain their nutrition as well as afford transport to the health centers where they collect their antiretroviral drugs for continued healthy living.
