Information & Communication Learning Center
Project Launch: 1-4-18
The Information & Communication Learning Center aims to make the existing computer lab at GS Aurora Giovannini more student-friendly and empower teachers to utilize technology in the classroom. Through the purchase of new materials and equipment, the center will orient teachers to the benefits of educational technology as well as motivate educators to develop lesson plans that make use of technological resources. The new equipment will also allow students to better maximize their own learning and further their access to available educational materials.
Project Update: 3-9-18
Five computer technology trainings were held to orient the faculty about the use of technology in lesson planning and teaching. All materials and equipment were purchased and transported from Kigali to the school for immediate deployment during the current phase of this project. Teacher observations will help educators develop strategies and more comfort with the use of technology in the educational process.
Final Report: 5-21-18
The major success of this project is the end result which is two functional computer lab rooms. The newly painted and furnished rooms give GS Aurora Giovannini more space for students to engage in enriching academic and extracurricular activities. The school organized the materials and equipment to best fit their needs. The first computer lab has desks, chairs, a whiteboard, the desktop computer, and printer. Many teachers and staff members will use this room to help them fulfill professional responsibilities however the computer lab is also used as a meeting space for student groups and student leaders. 4 female teachers and 11 male teachers were trained in ICT integration in the education. 216 female students and 144 male students were trained in computer virus prevention & protection and research & credibility.
