Project Launch: 4-22-20
Championed by a Young African Leaders Initiative Regional Leadership Center alumni, the Improving Girls Health and Sanitation project will construct a girls’ latrine and washroom at Likwenu Community Day Secondary School to improve school girls’ health and sanitation. Through this project, 130 school girls will have access to clean washrooms for effective menstrual hygiene and management. The project restore girls' dignity by offering a private bathroom rather than having them go to the bathroom in the bushes. With this facility, girls will be more motivated to go to school during their menstrual cycles, thus reducing absenteeism and improving academic performance.
