Improving Access to Safe Water, Sanitation and Hygiene Promotion
Project Launch: 7-16-20
In Bugaya, Uganda, there is limited access to clean drinking water and sanitation infrastructure. With this World Connect grant, a local community organization called HOLD Uganda plans to rehabilitate five community wells and nine latrines across three schools. The wells will provide consistent access to clean drinking water throughout the year. Additionally, girls will no longer have to spend hours walking to collect safe drinking water every day. The latrines will support community hygiene and offer adolescent girls space to care for their menstrual health without missing school. HOLD Uganda will facilitate a Community-Led Total Sanitation training for 500 people to identify their sanitation needs and assets as a community. Ultimately, the goal is to improve sanitation, water access, health, and school attendance through this project.
