Country: Peru
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
In Salpo, Peru, an area in the Andes so beautiful it is nicknamed "God's Balcony", many children suffer from malnutrition, poor hygiene and lack proper waste management. With a $500 grant from World Connect's Kids to Kids Program in 2011, schools were able to purchase hand washing equipment and students created signs to remind their peers and the importance of hand washing. High school students also created big murals in the town's public bathrooms that show all the steps to good hygiene. And having learned about waste management, students now recycle, weigh, sort, and reuse what is salvageable and cart the rest of the trash away to increase cleanliness and sanitation.Explore other Projects
