Repair Café El Barrio is based East Harlem and is currently the only regular Repair Cafe in NYC. They have hosted monthly community repair events for the past three years, where volunteers help neighbors fix broken items, keeping them out of landfills while fostering connections across generations and cultures. "Growing Repair Café El Barrio: Time, Tools & Togetherness" will expand the organization's capacity, deepen community engagement, and secure resources for long-term sustainability. As new Repair Cafés open in Brooklyn, Queens and Manhattan's West Side, trained volunteers from Repair Café El Barrio will help model successful practices citywide.
