About this Project
The Asociación Red de Mujeres Indígenas Abriendo Oportunidades REDMI AQ'AB'AL NGO will strengthen the skills of mothers of girls and adolescents in the community through training in basket-making, while also generating economic income by introducing their products into the local market, with the potential to expand nationally through the creation of unique designs. The project will work with 30 women (mothers, sisters, or aunts who are caregivers or guardians of participating girls and adolescents), aged 20 to 45. They will receive training in basket production, techniques, and design. A key component of the initiative is fostering participation and group cohesion. Topics such as cultural identity, teamwork, and solidarity among women will be addressed, promoting well-being and cooperation.
