Increasing economic opportunity through livestock business education and the creation of a local cattle business
Project Launch:
Fila Tigre is a small community made up of 250 people. There are very limited employment opportunities in the community, especially for women. This project will establish small cattle-rearing businesses to provide women a source of income from one of the biggest industries in the region. Working with the local development association, unused land will be converted into a farm where a cowshed will be built to raise five cows. Local women will be employed to work on the farm as well as participate in workshops led by a regional livestock association and the community bank to learn about cattle raising, business management, and strategies for applying for loans. Equipped with new skills, women will then be encouraged to apply for small loans to start or expand their own cattle businesses.
