About this Project

Project Launch: 3-11-26

Je’lik Art School is a community space that strengthens the leadership of Indigenous women in the municipality of Nahualá. The school promotes economic independence through sustainable opportunities that are culturally relevant. This initiative will help revitalize and professionalize the community’s artisanal traditions, transforming ancestral techniques such as weaving, jewelry making, painting, and wood carving into real tools for empowerment, income generation, and the affirmation of cultural identity.

At the community level, an increase in economic autonomy is expected, as by the end of the training process at least 45 women will have strengthened their skills and opportunities for income generation. It is also projected that at least 15 young people will participate in processes to recover and learn traditional weaving, ensuring the continuity of knowledge and strengthening cultural identity.
