Concerned Youth Organisation (CYO), with support from Mudzi Connect, assisted Cyclone Freddy survivors through relocation and livelihood support. Eleven vulnerable households were relocated, with five receiving three months’ rental assistance after their homes were destroyed. Eight beneficiaries received start-up capital ranging from MK 80,000 to MK 130,000, along with business management training. Families were also provided with food and essentials, including maize, sugar, and relish. Additionally, beneficiaries received mental health support to help cope with stress and trauma caused by the cyclone. Immaculate Sayenda, 27, expressed her gratitude: "I am really thankful for the support from CYO. I was living in a damaged house, but they helped us find a good place to stay. I also started a business that helps provide for my family every day."
