Cultivando el Futuro; Economic Reactivation of Rural Communities
Project Launch: 1-31-24
Cultivando el Futuro (“Cultivating the Future”) is a rural community organization that works to boost the local economy infrastructure for rural families. Currently, there is a current disconnect between rural farmers and the urban market, which has resulted in price gouging, deterioration of food quality. This project will create an organized infrastructure for rural farmers, including the development of marketing and sales of products in the urban provincial capital of Cuenca. Through the building of five greenhouses, a series of training workshops and monitoring, and agro-ecological kits of seedlings, soil and fertilizer, this project will establish five rural parishes as providers of quality fruits and vegetables for the urban center. This project will create a sustainable income for farmers, and support food security of over 250 rural families.
