About this Project

This project, led by the Parents’ Committee of the Instituto Mixto de Educación Básica por Cooperativa “Maya Canoense,” will create a safe, creative after-school space for 62 students. The initiative introduces the first formal music education program, complemented by activities in arts, sports, and technology, in the community of Aldea Las Canoas. Through music classes and creative workshops, students will develop musical skills, build self-esteem, discover personal talents, and enjoy positive alternatives for their free time. The program serves as an educational complement to regular academics, offering broader learning opportunities in an inclusive, context-appropriate environment. By providing access to structured artistic and recreational activities for the first time, the project strengthens students’ confidence, encourages talent development, and contributes to their overall personal and social growth in this rural community.
