Mndembo Village Development Committee, in partnership with Mudzi Connect is completing the construction of Ngombende Underfive Clinic and Mwelero CBCC in Mdembo village, T/A Msakambewa Dowa district. Using a $4,984 co investment, the project will paint, floor and furnish both the CBCC and Underfive clinic. The CBCC is already in operation while the underfive services are currently being done in a borrowed structure originally built as an Agricultural Development and Marketing Corporation (ADMARC). The new clinic will improve the healthcare access for the mothers and children significantly enhancing early childhood health outcomes and reducing the burden of malnutrition while the CBCC will ensure that the learning experience of the children is improved
The Completion of Mwelero CBCC and Mtenthera formally known as Ngombende Under-Five Clinic project is steadily transforming access to early childhood and maternal health services in Mndembo community. With support from Mudzi Connect, the Village Development Committee has prioritized advancing stalled infrastructure, completing the flooring of the under-five clinic and carrying out major renovations at Mtenthera Under-Five Clinic, including roofing, plastering, painting, and flooring. These developments have laid a strong foundation for the commencement of under-five health services, as confirmed by engagement from the District Health Office. While most project indicators are yet to be realized due to the project being ongoing, the visible progress achieved to date reflects strong community commitment and positions both facilities for full functionality within the planned timeline.
With $4,984.00 in support from World Connect, the Mndembo Village Development Committee completed the Ngombende CBCC and Mwelero Under-Five Clinic, finalising a second project phase which began in 2024. Works included construction of CBCC toilets and a kitchen, clinic toilets, drainage systems, painting, and completion of waiting areas, making both facilities fully operational. The under-five clinic now serves 315 children monthly and 505 women, with malnutrition cases reduced to zero. The CBCC trained eight female caregivers and currently has an enrollment of 240 children. This project has improved access to quality health and education services in the community.
