Construction of the Kachenga Community-Based Childcare Centre (CBCC), led by the Kafanikhale Village Development Committee, started in 2024 but was not completed due to high increase in prices of materials. With an additional investment of $4,372.36 from Mudzi Connect, the facility will be fully painted, floored, and furnished making it ready for use. Once completed, the CBCC will offer a safe and supportive learning environment for over 100 children in the early childhood development stage. It will equip them with foundational skills in literacy and numeracy, effectively preparing them for primary education.
The completion of Kachenga Community Childcare Centre (CBCC), along with the construction of a kitchen and toilet, is advancing steadily under the leadership of Kafanikhale Village Development Committee with support from Mudzi Connect. Key works in this final phase have included painting, installing a fisher board, building a toilet, and constructing a water drainage system. Remaining tasks, such as plastering and flooring the kitchen, are planned for completion shortly. Once finished, the CBCC will provide a safe and stimulating environment for children under five, supporting early childhood learning and development. Strong community participation has kept the project on schedule, reflecting a shared commitment to improving the welfare of the youngest learners in the area.
With $4,572.36 coinvestment with Mudzi Connect, the Kafanikhale Village Development Committee completed the Kachenga CBCC, including a kitchen and toilet, creating a fully functional and safe early learning facility. Previously, 118 children under five (68 girls, 50 boys) attended lessons in a dilapidated grass shelter, exposed to harsh weather and class disruptions. The new CBCC provides a secure, child-friendly environment, improved hygiene, and proper meal preparation. Six female caregivers received training to enhance early learning practices. Fully operational, the CBCC supports children’s cognitive, social, and physical development while enabling parents to pursue productive activities with peace of mind.
