Building Sustainable Communities Through Honey Production

About this Project

Mphalayi Producers and Marketing Cooperative Society Limited is set to expand its beekeeping and honey production activities in Yesaya Jere Village and surrounding communities in Mzimba District, thanks to a $6,008 co-investment from Mudzi Connect. The project will equip the cooperative with 40 modern beehives along with honey extraction and processing tools, helping members produce cleaner, higher-quality honey more efficiently. All 115 members including 69 women will also receive refresher training in beekeeping management and honey processing to sharpen their skills. Beyond boosting incomes, the initiative supports forest conservation by encouraging environmentally friendly beekeeping practices, tying sustainable livelihoods directly to the health of the local ecosystem.
