Girls' Toilet Construction at Mitenje Junior Primary School
Project Launch: 4-22-20
Through the “Build one girls toilet at Mitenje Junior Primary School” project, Community members will construct a girls’ toilet with two rooms at Mitenje Junior Primary School. With no toilet, the girls trek to the nearby bush which takes away their dignity and others opt to drop out from school to avoid being shamed. The project will minimize absenteeism of girls and prevent spread of diseases such as cholera and diarrhea which rise due to unavailability of latrines. A total of 78 school girls are expected to use and benefit from the project.
Final Report:
Using the $749.29 grant from World Connect, Child Relief and Development organization has completed building a girl’s toilet at Mitenje primary school in Ntonda, Traditional Authority Phambala in Ntcheu district. The construction of the toilet will help reduce and prevent the spread of diseases such as diarrhea and cholera in the area. The toilet will also improve privacy for female students at the school. The construction of this toilet will benefit over 120 girls who are students at Mitenje by increasing their attendance and subsequently leading to improvements in their performance in school and national examinations.
