About this Project
The entrepreneurship project for girls’ education consists of the handmade production of textiles, including güipiles for personal use and sale, as well as agricultural activities such as raising domestic animals. Its primary purpose is to generate income for families and enable them to support their girls in continuing their academic education. Several positive and important aspects have been considered for the conservation of the local environment; one of these is the implementation of organic fertilizer produced from the decomposition of domestic animal manure. This aims to create organic fertilizers for crops or family gardens. The project targets communities where a common factor among families is the risk of girls dropping out of school due to a lack of opportunities for family income. The project will benefit selected families from 16 rural communities in the municipality of Santa Apolonia, Chimaltenango.
