Strengthening Antenatal and Child Welfare Care at Kwabeng Health Centre
Project Launch: 4-23-20
This community organization aims to improve maternal, newborn, and child health care through the Kwabeng Health Center. First, they will construct and supply a portable laboratory. This lab will reduce the distance women travel to seek antenatal care. Timely identification of potential risks to pregnancy such as the presence of protein in urine and anemia in pregnancy will reduce maternal morbidity and mortality. The availability of such services will improve the confidence of pregnant women in the health service and subsequently their health-seeking behavior. Secondly, they plan to construct a covered waiting area for pregnant women, mothers, and children to sit while they wait to access antenatal, postnatal, and other reproductive health services. Immunization coverage is anticipated to improve significantly as mothers who before had to stand for hours while awaiting immunization services will now have a comfortable space to wait for such a service.
