Year: 2009
Country: Belize
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
This grant followed on the successful work of the St. Benedict Butterflies Girls Club supported by World Connect in 2008. In 2009, $505 was awarded to enable a group of club participants to plan a mural project as well as participate in other skill building activities. Leaders of the group reported increases in knowledge, self-esteem, and the desire to be active and play sports. Participating girls took trips to Punta Gorda and had lecturers visit and teach them about arts, health, physical activity and general life lessons. Participants are now comfortable speaking up, asking questions, and they have conversations with everyone who visits the girls club. Girls who used to be shy are now more comfortable showing their personality.Explore other Projects
