Talmest is a community of 5,000+ inhabitants in the southwest of Morocco, between Casablanca and Agadir. It is an Arabic-speaking town with a very large youth population, 58% are under the age of 30. Project Green, Clean and Zween will provide students at the Sidi Abdel Jalil primary school with a fun, clean, safe and educational school environment. It will start with the installation of a school vegetable garden (Green), cultivated by the students themselves. The garden's harvest will be sold by students in the weekly Saturday souk (market), where they will be taught basic business skills and will generate income for the sustainability of the school garden. The second component of the project will focus on repairing the school's outdoor bathrooms (Clean) so students and teachers will be more comfortable using them. These two components will result in a beautiful ("Zween") and unique school grounds for years to come.
