The importance of extracurricular, fun activities for kids is only now being accepted in Morocco. Families who are struggling to put food on the table and teach their children to read are unable to provide the extracurricular activities that will ensure that their children grow up well rounded and intellectually stimulated. With this in mind, the primary school teachers in Iztat, a small village in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco, in collaboration with a local Peace Corps Volunteer and World Connect, organized a week-long summer camp for the community’s 47 primary school students that included arts and crafts, theatre, a world map mural project and exercise and fitness activities. The camp encouraged community unity and leadership, and will be replicated every summer utilizing the supplies purchased with a grant from World Connect.Explore other Projects
