Year: 2013
Country: Senegal
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Health
Project Investment: $421.95

Project Launch:

This project takes place in the communities of Thiawando and Keur Katim Diama, Senegal. Community health workers operate in the area currently, but do not have enough resources to reach all community members. The purpose of this project is to provide two elementary schools and two health huts with the resources and lasting knowledge to promote hygiene, nutrition, and malaria awareness.

Throughout the project, community health workers will lead workshops at the partner schools and health posts on various health themes. The workshops will be paired with public murals project, painted by a Peace Corps Volunteer and community members, reinforcing the health topic. The workshops will transfer knowledge and skills to community members about healthy lifestyles, while the murals will reinforce the knowledge on a daily basis.
