Youth Sports and Hydration Project
Project Launch:
Tigmijjou is a small village in Morocco, home to around 250 people who make their living through the production and sale of handmade baskets. Tigmijjou residents lack education on the importance of drinking water and, as sugary tea is such an important part of Moroccan culture, community members constantly display symptoms of dehydration. This project will bring a community health worker to Tigmijjou to deliver education workshops on the importance of staying hydrated at all times, especially during physical activity. A grant from World Connect will also enable the purchase and installation of soccer goal posts. The hydration workshops will be built around and delivered at youth soccer tournaments, which are a popular and well-attended tradition in the community.
