Tech for Every Gen Alpha (TEGA) Badarawa
Project Launch: 12-22-22
Tech for Every Gen Alpha (TEGA) Badarawa is a 12-month project that aims to develop the Information and Communication Technology (ICT) skills of 25 boys called 'Almajiri' and 25 orphaned girls in the marginalized Badarawa community in Kaduna state. The project, which will be directly implemented by Kaduna International School (KIS), an implementing partner of The Young African Bookworms, already has the approval of the Badarawa community leaders and community aMllams. The project location is the KIS computer lab and will work around the daily Islamic school schedule of the 25 Almajiri boys and the western and/or Islamic schedule of the 25 girls, to give them a minimum of 2 hours hands-on ICT training weekly. In addition, they are incorporating a 4-days-per-week reading program into the 50 children's daily routine. This is not only relevant because the ICT program will be taught in English, but also because the computer keyboard and relevant software are designed for an English-speaking audience.
