Reading is Power!
Year: 2011
Country: Peru
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $495.07
Project Launch:
In Paccha, Peru, a region close to the equator, reading is not a central part of the culture nor is parent/teacher/community involvement in school-related functions. With a grant from World Connect's Kids to Kids Program in 2011, the school launched an initiative to increase involvement from parents by assigning them homework along with their children and gave them books to read to their children. The launch of this three-month campaign of after-school reading programs, book exchanges, reading contests, and spelling bees helped promote reading and school performance.Explore other Projects
