In Matagalpa, Nicaragua, the local maternity house provides pregnant women with lodging, nutritious meals, health checkups, educational workshops, and general support to prepare them for delivery. This project will lead to the installation of a community garden and outdoor oven at the maternity house, to ensure that the women are receiving food and essential nutrients during their pregnancy. Maternity house health workers will also offer nutritious cooking workshops for expectant mothers in residence, using produce from the garden.
