Las Delicias Community Library Project
Year: 2009
Country: Dominican Republic
Project Status: Funded
Impact Sector: Education
Project Investment: $500.00
Project Launch:
In 2009 a Peace Corps Volunteer in the Dominican Republic noted that youth in Las Delicias were enthusiastic and creative but lacked safe places for their free time without parks, baseball fields, or any open land. Most of the land in this small community of 700 is privately owned and fenced in. World Connect’s Kids to Kids program awarded $500 to the Las Delicias Community Library Project which helped equip their new library with books, encyclopedias, dictionaries, atlases, textbooks, educational puzzles, games, computers, and reading spaces. The library now also offers tutoring, book clubs, story time, summer reading programs, educational clubs and workshops.Explore other Projects
