Healthy Bodies, Active Minds
Project Launch: 1-5-16
At G.S Bare school, the students have designated time to exercise and play, but limited recreational facilities. This project will build a multipurpose sport court to hold basketball and volleyball practices, as well as serve as a meeting place for community groups. Once completed, the court will be used for a weeklong health workshop for 200 students, focusing on malaria, HIV/AIDS, and physical, mental and sexual health. The project will promote active lifestyles and educate local youth on important health topics.
Final Report: 3/3
Over the last two months, a local construction crew was able to successfully build the new sport court. To inaugurate it's completion, students participated in daylong health workshops which incorporated games to make it an interactive, hands on learning experience. With the new sport court, the school's volleyball and basketball teams have a clean and safe place to practice and play. While the court will mainly be used by students and teachers at GS Bare School, the court will also be used for neighboring schools and community members.
